A Source Of Ongoing Support For You And Your Music Program
Through the GTM, you will have access to the support and encouragement of more than four hundred peers throughout the United States, Canada and beyond. Guild members are also connected to the American Conference of Cantors, of which the Guild is an affiliate.
GTM members with specific expertise make themselves available for musical outreach
and training programs for small congregations.
Our Internationally-recognized annual Young Composers' Award (YCA) encourages
gifted young composers to write original Jewish compositions based on specific
criteria established for each year's competition. Identified only by number,
compositions are judged by panels of renowned composers, most of whom are members
of the Guild. Winners receive a cash award, sponsorship of the premiere performance,
automatic submission of the piece for publication consideration, travel expenses
within North America to attend the premiere and a year of free membership in
the GTM.
We work to advance the professional development of our members and recognize their achievements.
We also conduct periodic salary surveys as a guide to current levels of compensation for various positions.
We provide opportunities for members to share perspectives on topics related
to evolving ideas in synagogue music; for ways to promote the best Jewish worship
music; and for soliciting and sharing writings from Guild members.
