Conventions & Workshops

ACC/GTM Summer Convention

For many years, the Guild of Temple Musicians, along with the American Conference of Cantors, have co-sponsored an annual four-day June or July convention in different parts of the United States, Canada or Israel.

Jointly planned to meet the needs of both groups, the ACC/GTM summer convention includes concerts, worship services, keynote speakers, an array of workshops, exhibitions by publishers of Jewish music and other Judaica, and opportunities to share ideas and establish connections with colleagues. GTM's Annual Meetings take place at these conventions.

Mid-winter Conference

The annual mid-winter conference, also held in different areas each year, provides similar opportunities for inspiration and education, typically structured around a theme.

Regional Workshops

A growing number of regional workshops and seminars are held to address needs and interests of Guild members, both Judaic and musical.

URJ Department of Synagogue Music

We also serve as your link to the Department of Synagogue Music of the Union For Reform Judaism (formerly UAHC), through representation on the Commission of Worship, Music & Religious Living and by providing convenient access to the Union's comprehensive array of materials, as well as workshops and festivals held each year.

Mifgash Musicale

One of our main study/workshop courses is the URJ-sponsored Mifgash Musicale, held for 4 days during late Spring or Summer at the Cincinnati campus of HUC. On a rotating basis, these sessions deal with music for the Sabbath, the Festivals and the High Holy Days.
